On a recent trip to Meliá Hotels International’s Paradisus Palma Real Golf & Spa Resort in Punta Cana, I was invited to experience the butler-driven, adults-only Royal Service and the NEW Family Concierge – two luxury boutique sections within the resort.
Located on the Dominican’s eastern shore, the Palma Real is a sleek and stylish 5 star oceanfront property that overlooks the pristine sands of Bávaro Beach, declared by UNESCO as one of the best beaches in the world.
Forget your typical all-inclusive resort, the Paradisus
‘LUXEclusive’ experience has raised the bar! From the moment I arrived, I was immersed
in a world of exquisite design, aromatic scents and inviting sounds that took me on a sensorial journey.
The hotel’s 554 suites are located in three buildings
and sections: Royal Service (18+), Family Concierge and the Standard Section
(no less impressive than the rest!) that are spread throughout the property’s
manicured tropical landscape with live flamingos, turtles and birds. Palma Real
is an eco-conscious resort awarded the EarthCheck Silver Certified status.
My lavish suite was stylishly decorated in
contemporary earth tones with marble floors, a cozy sitting area and a luxurious
bathroom with Thierry Mugler toiletries – my secret addiction!
The property is also home to The Reserve Palma Real, a
posh boutique hotel located within the resort with 190 concierge suites. This
is the site of the YHI Spa & Wellness Centre, an incredible Asian inspired
natural sanctuary where scenic lily ponds and the soothing sound of fountains
lulled me into a state of bliss. The thermal circuit was perfect for
revitalizing after my flight and is free to hotel guests. There’s also a
private Royal Service YHI Spa – The Oriental Garden - featuring private massage
cabanas. This was by far one of my favourite hotel spas ever!
Their philosophy, the ‘pure freedom to just be’ ensured
my every comfort and need was catered to. Everything here is premium,
including the cocktails created by their very own mixologist, Miguel Lancha, a handsome
gentleman from Madrid. His Rosemary & Cinnamon Silver Ginn Fizz was
fabulous!
The resort feels spacious and intimate thanks to its layout.
I never had to stress about finding that perfect spot by the pool, the beach or in a
restaurant – something I'm sure travellers can appreciate.
This spectacular resort houses 5 swimming pools,
including the almost 40,000 square foot main pool that extends to the beach. Talk
about views! This aquamarine stunner is the largest in Punta Cana and features 7
hydromassage areas. The beach is wide and spacious with sky-high coconut palms
and soft sand that extends into a sea of turquoise, especially captivating when
I was lounging on my Bali bed.
The adults-only Royal Service pays close attention to
luxury details such as VIP lounge with private check in/out, personal butler
service, private pool and beach with Bali
beds and much more. Here, everything speaks of comfort and relaxation,
evidenced with their in-room Jacuzzi® preparation, pillow menu and scent
selection for your nightly aromatherapy in-room turn down service. Paradisus Palma Real is redefining luxury all-inclusive.
In the Family Concierge which recently opened after a
$12 million renovation project, guests can enjoy the same luxury amenities and
service found in the Royal Service, but catered to the needs of families. Think
Johnson & Johnson toiletries, kid friendly amenities and milk with cookies
at turn down - my niece and nephew would have loved this!
At The Reserve, little ones can enjoy the Kids Zone equipped
with an adventure park that includes rock climbing and bungee jumping, a games
room, a kid’s pool with slides, as well as arts, crafts and cooking activities
- all under the supervision of qualified professionals, so parents can rest
easy day or night.
When it comes to dining, Paradisus Palm Real provides
an exciting gastronomic experience. The property is home to seven beautifully
designed dining venues that cater to all palettes. Restaurants range from buffet
to à la carte and feature a Steakhouse, International, Mexican, Italian, Asian Fusion
and Mediterranean cuisine. The crown jewel is Passion by 7 Michelin-star Chef Martin
Berasategui with its AAA 4-Diamond Award. For an additional $60 USD and $40 for
wine pairing, I happily delighted in a 7-course tasting menu that was an
incredible culinary experience.
Lighting and music transform spaces from day to night to
create an exciting nightlife. Dance the night away at the Red Lounge, take part
in festive activities, enjoy the rhythmic sounds of live music, performances
and shows, or, simply sip delicious cocktails at one of the bars. Royal Service
and The Reserve guests can unwind at the stylish Gabi Beach and Bar – it was
here that I enjoyed dinner on the beach, complete with a Rum tasting class with
the talented Miguel.
At Palma Real, even the activities are pure luxury. Think
yoga and pilates on the beach! There are also spinning and tennis classes; along
with snorkeling, kayaking and scuba diving, but I must admit that the tango,
painting, wine tasting and cigar making classes were especially fun!
If you’re looking for an effortless, luxury all-inclusive
vacation, I highly recommend the Paradisus Palma Real, or its sister property
Paradisus Punta Cana.
