Discover Costa Rica's Rainforest at Nicuesa Lodge
August 25, 2017
Nestled in the lush surroundings of a protected
rainforest on the beguiling shores of Playa Nicuesa, off the Pacific Coast,
lays the eco-chic Playa
Nicuesa Rainforest Lodge. Reachable only by private boat, this secret hideaway is what jungle dreams are made of. More than stylish accommodations, Nicuesa is an experience that remains etched in your memory forever.
Nicuesa's treehouse-style main lodge is home to
quiet nooks and stylish communal areas filled with hammocks, board games, books, jungle relics and other activities that foster relaxation and a sense of community - perfect
for keeping everyone off their cellphones! If you do need WiFi however, this is
the only area that has it. But trust me, you won't!
Savory tropical-Latino inspired dishes made with fresh local ingredients are served upstairs in a family-style setting overlooking the dense tropical rainforest. There is also a herb garden on the property from where guests can enjoy an array of therapeutic and healing herbal teas.
At Playa Nicuesa Rainforest Lodge guests can enjoy complimentary yoga every day at 6am and 4pm in a peaceful hideaway beneath a canopy of trees overlooking the jade waters of Golfo Dulce.
The yoga pavilion also serves as the area for massage treatments, so guests can be lulled to sleep as they listen to the sound of the waves kissing the shore. It doesn't get more relaxing than this.
JUNGLE-CHIC ECOLODGES
Costa Rica has been at the forefront of the green tourism movement for many years now, so naturally Nicuesa's stylish ecolodges have no air conditioning, phones, WiFi or televisions. Here, guests can detach from the outside world and relish in the serenity and benefits of a digital detox while tucked inside the jungle. Cabins come with wrap around terraces and hammocks where you can lay back and spot rainforest wildlife; louvered doors and windows allowing you postcard-perfect views; plush canopied four-poster beds covered in picturesque mosquito netting with ceiling fans; and large open air shower-bathrooms surrounded by flowers, fauna and the echoes of nature.
Nestled in a protected rainforest filled with rivers, waterfalls and mangroves on the shores of Golfo Dulce (Sweet Gulf), there are many activities for the active traveller to enjoy. Prepare to set sail for the adventure of a lifetime!
During breeding season, see whales preparing their young to navigate Golfo Dulce's warm waters.
Enjoy kayaking, hikes, paddle boarding, snorkelling, dolphin tours and fishing trips. Or, if you prefer, just lie in a hammock perched among the trees and admire the ocean views, immersed in nature.
If you are lucky, you might find yourself surrounded by playful dolphins as I did on my first ever paddle boarding adventure!
