Nestled
in a tropical forest on the shore of world-famous Playa Tamarindo
lays the stylish and environmentally conscious Capitan
Suizo
- a boutique beach hotel steps from all of the action in Tamarindo
but secluded enough for you to feel like you have a pocket of heaven
all to yourself.
Playa
Tamarindo on Costa Rica's Pacific Coast is a paradise that lures
surfers and beach lovers alike. Experiencing all the adventure this
region has to offer is a must! Within an hour of taking in the scene
and soaking up the vibe on Tamarindo beach, this 44 year old decided
she was going to try her hand at surfing! I think that's what Costa
Rica's "Pura Vida" is all about. Living life. Trying new
things. Not letting our circumstances bring us down. Venturing out to
see something new. Courageously doing something that scares us or
makes us feel vulnerable. I promise that on the other side of fear
lays an abundance of happiness!
When
you tire from all the action on Playa Tamarindo, return to Capitan
Suizo
and be immersed in an oasis of peace and serenity where your every
comfort is catered to. Sit by the inviting pool and sip a delicious
cocktail under a canopy of trees that are home to howler monkeys,
tropical birds, butterflies and squirrels, as huge iguanas and geckos
stroll by.
Sunsets
take on magical proportions on Playa Tamarindo and where better to
enjoy them than from the comfort of your private terrace or laying on
plush loungers on the beach. Personally, I love sunset walks on the
beach to take in the incredible views and relish in the stillness
that transpires at day's end. The light at this time is incredible.
These images were captured directly in front of Capitan
Suizo.
Look closely and you will see the sky is painted in two colour
schemes; shades of gold and hues of violet and blue. This was one of
the most magnificent sunsets I have ever witnessed and I have been
blessed to see many.
To
see such beauty in person is to witness the miracle of living and the
magnificence of our planet. It makes me more appreciative of the
continued efforts by Small
Distinctive Hotels who have implemented sustainable
practices to ensure they are doing their part to help save our planet
so that future generations can experience miraculous moments like
this one. It was the butterfly migration when I visited in early
August and butterflies danced on the waves as they rolled onto the
shore from the Pacific ocean. The scene was magical!
Be
sure to toast the view with a delicious cocktail at the open-air bar
and restaurant, which serves an impressive array of tasty dishes. The
hotel can even arrange a romantic dinner on the beach. Their talented
mixologist makes the most amazing twist on the traditional Mojito
with mango and strawberries. I sipped on one every night before
dinner.
This
boutique hotel is home to just 35 rooms and private cabins in a
privileged area outside of town, at the end of the bay and directly
on Playa Tamarindo. I stayed ina private ocean-view cabin and
it was heavenly. To tend to matters of relaxation there is also the
Aromas del Mar Spa.
One
of the things I loved most about staying at Capitan
Suizo
was its close proximity to all the action on Tamarindo Beach, but
when I wanted to enjoy peace and tranquility I simply returned to the
property. Beachfront hotels in Tamarindo are few, so this is truly a
blessing.
